- Annual Giving Data Analyst
Description
POSITION OBJECTIVE
The annual giving data analyst will be responsible for program reporting and analysis along with compiling and ensuring the accuracy of data for audience segmentation for solicitations and stewardship efforts. In collaboration with Annual Giving, Advancement Services and UTech colleagues, the incumbent will be contributing to the evaluation of programs, including managing and analyzing donor data to develop strategies and tactics to increase giving, number of donors, donor acquisition and donor retention to the university. The incumbent will play a critical role in analyzing the university's annual giving pool and pipeline, prioritizing data reporting and analytics initiatives that generate actionable insights and maximize annual giving revenue and volume of donors. A successful data analyst is a key partner in moving donors through the giving continuum from acquisition to major or planned gift discussions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Design, oversee and manage Annual Giving's data segmentation and reporting tools. Serve as the department's data expert, consistently reporting on trends with annual giving performance and providing reports and analysis on an ongoing basis to enable decision making on annual giving strategies and tactics. (40%)
Create and manage dashboards that provide insights into annual giving key performance indicators such as retention, acquisition, upgrades, etc. Conduct regular reviews of these dashboards with the director of annual giving and engagement, along with the executive director and vice president. Identify trends and patterns within the data and make recommendations on program strategies and tactics based on data observations. (40%)
Monitor data for integrity of information, working collaboratively with departments across the university to conduct regular audits and maintain database accuracy. (10%)
Provide recommendations for segmenting data, personalization and target groups for solicitations and stewardship efforts, ensure accurate data pulls for those efforts. (10%)

CONTACTS
Department: Frequent contact with executive director, director and other staff as required to perform essential functions.
University: Contact with the president's office, provost's office, UTech, advancement services, development officers, senior staff in colleges and management centers, faculty and staff as required to perform essential functions.
External: Direct contact with donors and alumni as required to perform essential functions.
Students: Contact with students as required to perform essential functions.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
No direct supervisory responsibility.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: 3 to 5 years of professional experience in a related field, preferably in a sophisticated development operation; experience in data analytics statistics or annual giving strongly desired. Experience in advancement operations, business operations, or fundraising analytics in a higher education setting preferred.
Education: Bachelor's degree required.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Strong data analytics and problem-solving skills with an ability to identify trends, create data visualizations, make recommendations to colleagues and accurately report on key performance indicators. Demonstrated knowledge of quantitative and qualitative analysis.
An ability to oversee complex projects and processes with an attention to details while meeting deadlines even with frequent interruptions.
Ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing, with key stakeholders providing business analysis to drive performance. Develop collaborative relationships with colleagues outside of the annual giving team. Articulates complex ideas clearly, accurately, and concisely.
Must possess strong organizational and time management skills.
Understanding of the principles of fundraising, donor acquisition and donor retention.
Work with sensitive donor information, maintain confidentiality and use discretion.
Keep and maintain accurate and detailed reports and records.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with all levels of staff, donors, and prospective donors. Ability to interact with colleagues, supervisors, and customers face to face.
Computer proficiency (including Microsoft Office) and the ability to learn new programs. Proficiency working in CRMs and data visualization platforms.
Demonstrated history of successful support, education, and advocacy for all students, aligned with the values, mission, and messaging of the university, while adhering to the staff policy on conflict of commitment and interest.
Ability to meet consistent attendance.
WORKING CONDITIONS
General office environment, some evenings and weekend hours will be required.
